I did a 2015 XF last week. As usual, with 2015 cars, I told the owner that its module would be locked.
I did a 2014 RRS the same day. As usual, with 2014 cars, I told the owner that it’d “almost certainly” be locked
I did a 2014 L405 the day before. As usual, with 2014 cars, I told the owner that it’d “almost certainly” be locked.
I did a 2011 L322 yesterday. As usual, for 2011 cars, I don’t think I even mentioned that it might be locked – I’ve only ever seen one locked 2011 and it was a car stolen from Taggarts yard and recovered to them.
So four vehicles, each with fairly predictable “locked module” status.
I’d be confident of a 100% correct prediction rate. 75% would be a surprise.
How many did I get right?
Not a single one!
I don’t know which one surprised me most, the 2015 XF that wasn’t locked or the 2011 L322 that was.
Never assume anything with JLR vehicles!
Standard unlocked modules are £125 – £140 depending on the key you choose and a second key for the same car is half price. Locked modules are £285 for one key and £360 for two.
Get in touch if you want me to wrongly guess which module your car has.
