With more people taking advantage of lockdown and not using their cars, we are servicing more and more mail order enquiries.
In most cases we need the immobiliser module out of the car in order to program your new key and supply it by mail order and I think it’d be helpful to explain the processes here.
EWS modules – BMW E36/38/39/46/53/z4/X3/Mini R50/52/53/ Range Rover L322 and others
The EWS module is basically the immobiliser. It holds the key information. We read the key information and write the data to a new key. We need the EWS and a blade that operates the ignition in order to create a new key.
CAS Modules E60/63/65/70/90/X1/X3/X6/Z4/Mini R56 etc. Again the immobiliser with the key information stored in it. We need the module and usually a working key that starts the car. We don’t necessarily need the emergency blade.
FEM/BDC F series cars (except F10) – slightly different system where the key is programmed to the module and the module programmed to the key. We need the module and a working key that starts the car – we also need the emergency blade.
I’ll post removal guides for each over the next day or two.
Please get in touch to discuss your requirements and to see if we can help you with a new key for your BMW, Land Rover, Range Rover, Jaguar and Mini.
