Post 2015 JLR products have a locked “read only” module which prevents new keys being added. This was in response to the complaints of how simple it was to add new keys – and therefore steal – the 2010 on models. Any 2010 on model which has been in the dealers since 2015 is supposed to have been upgraded free of charge and fitted with the new, later “read only” module.
This applies to Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Discovery4 and 5, and DS, Evoque, late Freelander, Velar etc. as well as Jaguar XF, XJ, F- Pace, XK, F-Type etc., from 2010 on, though the newer the car, the more likely it is to be locked.
Up until very recently, we’ve only been able to do these at our premises here in East Kilbride and we’ve unfortunately had to turn away this work whilst on tour.
I’m now delighted to be able to confirm that we are now able to deal with the JLR locked module vehicles on the road too and can now add keys to vehicles equipped with these modules in as little as about 45 minutes.
The cost is £285.00 for the first key and £75 for each subsequent key at the same time. That compares very favourably with the costs quoted between £800 and £1300 from JLR.
Don’t take the risk of losing your only key. Get a spare now that it’s far more reasonably priced and available at a location convenient to you.
If you’re not local, please complete the form here to register for our next tour and get that spare key sorted out.
I look forward to hearing from you.
